Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was born in Glen Ellyn in Illinois and was raised in Chicago. However, at the time Amy was in junior high, she and her family also resided in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy is the oldest of three siblings: Betsy, Lori, and brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe both with her family as well as independently. Since her parents worked as teachers and teachers, they could travel together every summer, and camping all over the United States. In reality, they've camped in every state except Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda after the war in 1994 to help in relief efforts. Amy was a skilled actor in school plays and also won writing contests. In high school, she excelled as an athlete taking part in the first ever 3200 meter relay race for girls in the Illinois track. After suffering an injury, Amy returned to college and played a variety of roles on the stage, starting with Lanford Wilson’s “Fifth of July” and then directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Daniel and Lemon. Amy has graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) Cum laude and graduated with an A.A. East Asian history, with the concentration in Theater. She moved to Chicago afterward and studied Improv at the Improv Olympic and then acting at The Actor's Center. Soon after graduating, she was offered a permanent on the no longer-running soap series Another World (1964). She was nominated in the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in Daytime Drama Series" category for Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles were those of strong women like Alex Taylor (1999), Maggie Pistone (2000), Katie Owen (2003), and Linda Reagan (2003). Carlson currently resides in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and where she is also owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy continues to pursue unique and diverse role in the field of film.
