Rita Ora Bio

Rita Ora, a British artist and singer. Rita Sahatciu Ora was born in 1990 in Pristina (Kosovo) to Vera (Bajraktari), and Besnik Sahatciu. She is the granddaughter of director Besim Sahatciu. Her family relocated to the United Kingdom at age 1. Her birthplace was in West London, attended St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School in Earls Court and graduated from Sylvia Young Theatre School. She began singing from an early age.In 2004, she was featured in the British film Spivs. After auditioning for Eurovision Your Country is in need of You (BBC One) and being selected to represent the UK at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. She later pulled out of the competition after a number of episodes because she felt that the stage was not in good condition. In 2007, Ora was the first to get her first music video when she sang on Craig David's track entitled "Awkward" and again in 2008 on "Where's Your Love" with Tinchy Stryder, for which she also appears in the video. Ora began singing in bars and clubs around London and in 2009 an A&R representative told Roc Nation about Ora, just a few days following Ora took a flight to New York and met Jay-Z. Ora appeared in Jay-Z's video from 2009 for "Young Forever" and "Over" from Drake. Ora caught the attention of Jay-Z and he shrewdly signed her to Roc Nation, in which she was featured in an advertisement for Roc Nation + Skullcandy Aviator Headphones. Her father Besnik owned a bar and she started her career as a singer from the same pub. The singer cites Gwen Stefani as a major influence in the way she conducts herself, and her band No Doubt's "Don't Speak" (1996) as one of her most cherished songs.Her video for Tezenis's, The Silk Code, is the title of a novel which has won the Locus Award for Best First Science Fiction Novel of 1999.She was thought of to play Iris West in Justice League (2017) before Kiersey Cymons was chosen to play the role. Kate Moss and Ed Sheeran are friends.
