Deborah Rhea
Seehorn (born May 12, 1972) is an American actress. She is best known for her
character as attorney Kim Wexler on AMC's Better Call Saul (2015-2018), for
which she has been presented with the Satellite Award for Best Supporting
Actress in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. She's also appeared on the
NBC's Whitney (2011)-2013 as well as ABC's I'm with Her(2003)-2004 and TNT's
Franklin & Bash (2011)-2014. Deborah Rhea Seehorn, a Norfolk native was
born on May 12 in 1972. Her mother worked as an executive assistant in the
United States Navy, and her father was an agent of the Naval Investigative
Service. She grew up in a family that was constantly moving, including in
Washington, D.C., Arizona as well as Japan. At a very young age, she was
inspired by her grandfather and grandmother to study drawing, painting and
architecture. While she continued her pursuit of the visual arts, she also
discovered a passion for acting. She was also introduced to modern theater in
college. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art from George Mason
University in 1994. While at college, Seehorn was looking to enter the theater
industry, thanks to the encouragement of her acting teacher. She attempted to
be noticed by working in various ancillary jobs in D.C. theater. She eventually
got important roles in local theatre productions, but still needed to work odd
jobs to earn a living as she landed roles in several short instructional films.
Soon she began to be part of more television productions. Her role was often
compared to Bea Arthur, who she described as "very humorous,"
"sarcastic, and well-educated" women. Many of these roles were
removed after just one or two seasons. Seehorn was selected to play Kim Wexler
on the Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul in May 2014. Seehorn plays
Kim Wexler, who is a lawyer and the love of Jimmy McGill/Saul Wellman (Bob
Odenkirk).
