Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actor and singer of Irish descent. The passionate, fiery role she played in a variety of American films is what brought attention to the green-eyed beauty. Her stunning appearance and natural beauty was well-loved. She was known in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her onscreen characters reflected her own brave, strong spirit who was fighting for recognition and survival in this male-dominated world. She referred to herself as "the tough Irish woman" and she would not compromise on her respect for others to get the roles she was entitled to through merit. She was a vocal advocate for female actors on television and in films, and gained numerous followers as a result. The autobiography she wrote, "Tis herself", was published in 2004 and provided an open story of her entire life and the challenges she faced in her climb to success. She was an adventurous person who was not afraid to perform her own stunts. She appeared in more than 60 films, and was a star all around the globe. In the wake of Parra and remarried in 1968 with Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a brigadier in the past, former chief pilot, and an early pioneer in transatlantic air travel, to mention some of the accomplishments. In the early years of their marriage, O'Hara decided to quit her job. But her joy was fleeting when Blair passed away in a tragic plane crash in 1978. The same year, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and required urgent surgery. She recovered eventually. The health of her declined throughout her life and she was diagnosed with six heart attacks and short-term memory loss, and diabetes mellitus type 2. On 24 October 2015, O'Hara died peacefully at Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at the age of 95.
